Retirement is the reward for many years of hard work.  Some of us move into this stage of life fortunate enough to have more than we need and ponder ways to share that with others.  A Qualified Charitable Distribution allows that, while reducing your taxable income at the same time.

A Qualified Charitable Distribution allows you to redirect some or all of your annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA to the Anna Schindler Foundation to further the mission of helping families whose children are undergoing cancer treatments in the Inland Northwest. The distribution is not included in your income for that year, so it is not subject to taxes and the Anna Schindler Foundation receives the full value of the distribution. It is truly a blessing for all parties involved.

It is very important that the Qualified Charitable Distribution go directly to the Anna Schindler Foundation rather than through you.  If you take the RMD yourself and then make a donation to the Anna Schindler Foundation, the distribution is included in your taxable income and you will have to pay taxes on it. There are also limits as to how much of your RMD can be directed as a Qualified Charitable Distribution.  Your financial advisor can assist you in this process to make sure that it is done correctly and within the proper limits.

*Please note that none of the above is professional financial advice. We encourage you to direct any questions regarding your Required Minimum Distribution gift to your financial advisor.
