Joe Schindler (Founder/President)
Polly Schindler (Founder/VP/Secretary)
Joe and Polly Schindler founded the Anna Schindler Foundation in 2011. It was started in honor of their daughter Anna Schindler who passed away following a five month battle with Hepatoblastoma (liver cancer). Inspired by Anna and numerous other children who have bravely battled childhood cancer, Joe and Polly because of their experience are determined to make a difference in these children’s lives.
Joe and Polly are the President and VP, but they prefer the term “Founders”. They have eight beautiful children: “7 with 1 in heaven” ranging in age from 21 down to 5. This family’s experience enables a very real insight into the journey of childhood cancer.
Joe is a firefighter and enjoys helping others. He looks forward to the continued success and growth of the foundation so it can help more families in need. “I consider it a privilege to serve with such amazing people who want to help these families battling cancer.”
Polly is a “stay at home” homeschooling mom, runs a home, and is the Foundation’s secretary. But what she loves to do is visit the pediatric oncology floor at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital to offer support and a listening ear to the families.
Dick Teich (Chairman)
Dick comes to the Foundation by way of family. As Anna’s grandfather he was closely connected to events surrounding the families of cancer children.
He is a retired dentist of 50 plus years, served in the military, was past chairman of the Idaho State Dental Board, and is a member of the Western Regional Exam Board.
Dan Adams (Treasurer)
Dan Adams has been a commercial banker since 1984 and joined the Anna Schindler Foundation at its inception in 2011. He has been active as a board member in a number of community organizations including Boy Scouts of America, SUCCEED (a foundation for the support of urban elementary schools) and Habitat for Humanity. As Treasurer of the Anna Schindler Foundation, his goal is to help the organization achieve its short and long term financial goals.
Ken & Teresa Dodge
We are Ken and Teresa Dodge of Post Falls, Idaho. We have been friends with the Schindler family for fourteen years, and our children have grown up together. We are proud Godparents to Anna Schindler, and ask her daily for her angelic intervention for needy families struggling through the pains of childhood cancer. Our daughter Josephine misses her best friend, and our family will always hold Anna in our hearts. We see Anna in our daughter’s eyes as we think back to the day when we found out about the painful diagnosis that would change our families forever.
We are honored to be a part of the Anna Schindler Foundation, and have enjoyed working and catering fundraising events. Our expertise is not in the medical field or finances, but we are passionate about helping children. We enjoy bringing creative ideas to the foundation’s mission, and with Anna’s help from heaven, hope to provide some comfort for families battling this terrible disease.
